The power switch on a computer works by completing an electrical circuit when it is pressed. When the power switch is turned on, it sends a signal to the power supply unit to supply power to the other components of the computer, allowing it to boot up and operate. Conversely, pressing the power switch again sends a signal to the power supply to cut off power to the computer, shutting it down.
