Charles: Many people today enjoy traveling on the National Road because of its history and its beauty. Some of the reasons of why people travel to a place is because it is historical or its beautiful and the Nation Road is both! The National Road is one of the oldest roads in United states and it was bulit to bring our country together, "It was the first federally funded road in U.S. history. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson believed that a trans-Appalachian road was necessary for unifying the young country."( paragraph 1). The National road is also beautiful and since it was build before cars, its one of the few roads today that we can slow down and truly take in the sights," We scurry along at a hurried pace today, but when we want to relax, take our time, and see some sights, we once again travel the National Road."(paragraph 7". Many people have enjoyed seeing the National Road while learning about its history

Jennifer: Travelers enjoy usign the National Road today because they believed that it would connect the young country. They also build it for the mail coaches to began using the road for trading or bringing food. Quicker arrival time. Life was less stressful and slower.

Timmy:In the story Back In Time: The National Road. It's a very old historic place where people can drive to and stay in the loding called tollhouses or tollgates. When they want to get away from the busy fast pace life we live in now. "We scurry along a hurried pace today, but when we want to realx, take our time and see some sights, we once again travel The National Road"(Longfellow7). You can see even though The National Road is historically old it still holds that peace, that many people look for when tired of the loud fast pace world we live in.

Arjun: Travelers today enjoy using the National Road today to reminisce about the nostalgia they had has children traveling down the National Road. We see this in the text when they say " As adults we nostalgically seek them out for photographing." Another piece of evidence we see in the text that answers my thesis is when they say " A drive through National Road towwns usually reveals one of these markers, such as the one standing by the historic Red Brick Tavern in Lafayette, Ohio." As you can see these pieces of evidence help the reader undertand that travellers now a day reminisce about their past as children as they go down the National road with their children.

Sonita: The National Road is a significant piece of American History. The road was built to signify unity in the young country of America. Many people travel vast distances to see the road firsthand. In accordance, The National Road is enjoyable for many people now, due to its rich history and relaxing scenic pleasure. To start, The National Road was built between 1811 and 1834. Although it is very old, many of the roads are still intact. This compells people toward the destination because the road shows us how our ancestors used their ingenuity to make America a more unified nation. This can be shown when the Author says that "George Washington and Thomas Jefferson believed that a trans-Appalachian road was necessary for unifying the young country"(Longfellow 1). This piece of evidence shows us that our ancestors were thinking about future of their Nation which can be appreciated by all people around the world, then and now. Secondly, The National Road can be used as way to ease our minds and appreciate the beauty of the land. The National Road extends all-throughout America and holds many pieces of historical value that people can capture and use to enjoy the peacefulness. This can be proved when the Author states that "However, now when we want to have a relaxing journey with some history thrown in, we again travel the National Road"(Longfellow 4). This piece of evidence emphasizes the fact that the road is not just for transportation, but a way to relax and encompass all of the rich history displayed in front of us. Finally, The National Road is used for many purposes such as transportation, shipment, and tourism. Moreover, people enjoy traveling through the road for its rich history and relaxing scenic pleasure

Why is Arjun scored 2?

Arjun's essay is scored 2 because it contains several errors in grammar, lacks clear organization, and does not effectively address the prompt about the National Road. The writing is not cohesive and does not provide strong evidence to support the thesis. This level of writing would typically receive a lower grade due to these shortcomings.
