After Spindletop, the first major oil field discovered in the United States, many more oil fields were discovered and developed in the state of Texas and other parts of the country. One of the most notable oil fields discovered after Spindletop was the East Texas Oil Field, also known as the Kilgore Oil Field. This oil field was discovered in 1930 and became one of the largest and most productive oil fields in the United States.
