Grade 5 learners activity about substance abuse
Activity: Drug Awareness Poster
Objective: To increase awareness about substance abuse among grade 5 learners.
Materials needed:
- White paper or poster paper
- Markers
- Stickers or other decorative items
- Information about the dangers of substance abuse (could be written on a separate sheet of paper)
Instructions:
1. Begin by discussing with the learners what substance abuse is and why it is harmful to health.
2. Explain the importance of staying away from drugs and making healthy choices.
3. Divide the learners into small groups and provide them with the materials needed to create a drug awareness poster.
4. Encourage the learners to be creative and use colors, drawings, and slogans to convey their message about the dangers of substance abuse.
5. Provide the learners with information about the dangers of substance abuse to include on their posters.
6. Allow the learners time to work on their posters and encourage them to collaborate within their groups.
7. Once the posters are complete, have each group present their poster to the class and explain the message they are trying to convey.
8. Display the posters around the classroom or school to raise awareness about substance abuse among other students and staff.
9. Discuss the importance of making healthy choices and staying away from drugs with the learners.
10. Encourage ongoing discussions and education about substance abuse to help prevent future drug use among grade 5 learners.
