What is Nystagmus

Nystagmus is a condition characterized by uncontrollable, rapid, repetitive eye movements. These movements can be side to side, up and down, or in circular patterns. Nystagmus is often caused by abnormalities in the inner ear or parts of the brain that control eye movements. It can also be a symptom of certain neurological conditions or diseases. People with nystagmus may experience blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and difficulty with visual tasks such as reading or driving. Treatment options for nystagmus include corrective lenses, vision therapy, and sometimes surgery.
