Good morning/afternoon everyone,

4.1 Introduction:
I am honored to be here today on Human Rights Day in Namibia to speak to you all about children's rights. As we celebrate this important day, it is crucial that we remember the significance of protecting and upholding the rights of every child in our society. One of the key legislative frameworks that governs the rights of children in Namibia is the Child Care and Protection Act, 2015 (Act No. 3 of 2015). Today, I will be sharing with you all some key provisions of this Act and discussing the importance of ensuring that children's rights are respected and upheld.

4.2 Body:
The Child Care and Protection Act, 2015, is a comprehensive piece of legislation that is aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of children in Namibia. One of the key aspects of this Act is that it recognizes the inherent dignity and worth of every child and emphasizes the importance of ensuring that children are treated with respect and compassion.

Under this Act, children are entitled to a range of rights, including the right to education, the right to health and healthcare, the right to protection from abuse and exploitation, and the right to a safe and nurturing environment. It is the duty of all individuals, including teachers, parents, and community members, to ensure that these rights are upheld and protected.

The Act also provides for the establishment of a Child Welfare Fund, which is aimed at providing financial assistance to children in need and supporting programs and initiatives that promote the well-being of children in Namibia. This fund plays a crucial role in ensuring that children have access to the resources and support they need to thrive and reach their full potential.

In addition to these provisions, the Act also includes measures to address issues such as child trafficking, child labor, and child marriage, all of which are serious violations of children's rights. By addressing these issues and providing a legal framework for their prevention and prosecution, the Act plays a vital role in protecting children from harm and ensuring that their rights are upheld.

4.3 Conclusion:
In conclusion, it is essential that we all work together to ensure that the rights of children in Namibia are protected and upheld. The Child Care and Protection Act, 2015, provides a strong foundation for ensuring that children are treated with dignity and respect and that their rights are safeguarded. As teachers and learners, you all have a crucial role to play in promoting and advocating for the rights of children in our society. Let us continue to work together to create a safe and nurturing environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

Thank you.
