The Iroquois Confederacy, also known as the League of the Iroquois, lived in longhouses rather than wigwams. A longhouse was a large, rectangular building made of poles covered with bark or thatch, with a central hearth for cooking and a row of fire pits down the center for warmth. Each longhouse housed multiple families and served as a communal space for various activities. Wigwams, on the other hand, were smaller, dome-shaped structures typically used by other Native American tribes in different regions.
