Use the passage to answer the question.

“Please insert your card,” the parking kiosk chirped.

Jihun had inserted the card three times, each time with this same result. The interview was at 11:00; it was now 10:50 and counting. It was at least a five-minute walk to the clinic, so if you really thought about it, it was more like 10:55 now. And, of course, for an interview people wanted you to be early, to show initiative and all that stuff. The thought of just ramming the gate flashed through Jihun’s mind and disappeared just as quickly.

Attempt number four. “Please insert …”

This cheery robot voice was really beginning to wear on him. Jihun fired an apologetic text to Carol, explained that the parking garage was his captor holding him hostage, and pressed the “Call” button. Nobody showed up. Car after car sailed by in front of him. He stewed and seethed at the thought that he might miss out on this job because someone else was slacking off at theirs. A sheet of newsprint blew by like a tumbleweed.
