The king thought well of Mansa Musa, the ruler of the Mali Empire and known as one of the richest men in history. This is known because Mansa Musa was famously known for his immense wealth and his lavish spending during his pilgrimage to Mecca in 1324. He was said to have brought so much gold with him that he caused inflation in the regions he passed through.
