Directions: In unit 8, lessons 9-11, you learned about how to plan for, write and revise/edit a narrative. For this portfolio, you will be writing a 5 paragraph narrative (story).

Remember, your purpose is to entertain your reader. You may choose your own story topic or select a topic from the list provided below.

Your portfolio must include the following: See the graphic organizer for help with the structure of your narrative (story).
At least 5 paragraphs
The following elements of plot (For details on the elements of plot, watch this video)
An intro (also known as the exposition)
Rising action
Climax
Falling action
Resolution

Topic options for your narrative:

1. A memorable vacation
2. A funny family story
3. An exciting adventure
4. A challenging experience
5. A lesson learned from a mistake

Grading Policy:
Introduction:
- Captures the reader's attention and clearly introduces the topic

Rising action:
- Describes the setting and introduces the characters
- Builds suspense and leads up to the climax

Climax:
- The most exciting part of the story
- Where the conflict or problem reaches its peak

Falling action:
- Shows the aftermath of the climax
- Leads to the resolution

Resolution:
- The conclusion of the story
- Wraps up loose ends and provides closure for the reader

Overall organization and coherence:
- Logical flow of events
- Smooth transitions between paragraphs

Grammar and mechanics:
- Proper use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Varied sentence structure
- Clear and concise writing style

Creativity and originality:
- Unique and engaging story
- Demonstrates a strong voice and personal style
