Think back to a Mathematics lesson that you have recently taught successfully in grade 2

2. Describe the lesson:
• What did you do as the teacher? Write two or three sentences.
• How did the learners respond? Write two or three sentences.
Hint: the next questions might help you think about your lesson more clearly.
• Did you grab their attention?
• Did you give clear instructions?
• Could the learners answer the questions you asked?
• Did the learners participate in the lesson?
• How did you conclude this lesson?

During a recent Mathematics lesson in grade 2, I taught a lesson on addition and subtraction using manipulatives. I started by introducing the concept of addition and subtraction using counters, and then guided the students in solving simple addition and subtraction problems using the manipulatives.

The learners were engaged and excited to use the manipulatives to solve the math problems. They eagerly participated in the lesson, actively counting and moving the counters to find the answers. They were able to successfully solve the addition and subtraction problems with guidance from me.

I grabbed their attention by incorporating hands-on manipulatives into the lesson, which helped to make the abstract concept of addition and subtraction more concrete for them. I gave clear instructions on how to use the counters to solve the problems, and the learners were able to follow along and answer the questions asked. The learners actively participated in the lesson by working with the manipulatives and sharing their answers with the class. To conclude the lesson, I summarized the key concepts of addition and subtraction and reviewed the problems we had solved together.
