Rules

"I hate living in this house!" Esperanza yelled to the ceiling of her bedroom. "Why do I have to put up with all of these rules!"

Esperanza launched herself off of her bed, walked over to her white door covered with musician posters, and slammed the door. HARD. She couldn't understand the reason why her grandmother wouldn't allow her to watch shows on her phone. That woman keeps the phone in a drawer and only allows Esperanza to use it during certain times of the day. Esperanza couldn't understand the reason why.

"I just want to run away, for good this time!" Esperanza's voice pierced through her door and throughout the tiny two bedroom house.

Esperanza finally calmed down and laid back silently against her pillow. She eventually heard a conversation that was happening in the living room. Her grandmother was talking with the neighbor across the street. The neighbor was offering to take Esperanza to the park later in the day. Esperanza could faintly hear her grandmother agreeing on a time.

This got Esperanza thinking about the way she treated her grandmother just twenty minutes before. Even though her grandmother refused to give her the phone, she still wanted Esperanza to enjoy fun activities. Esperanza realized that her grandmother really did care about her.

With another big jump off of the bed, Esperanza opened the door and hugged her grandmother.
