Surface Area of Composite 3D Figures Quick Check

4 of 53 of 5 Items

To find the surface area of a composite 3D figure, you need to find the surface area of each individual component and then add them together.

Example:
Let's say we have a composite figure made up of a rectangular prism and a triangular prism.
- The surface area of the rectangular prism can be found using the formula 2lw + 2lh + 2wh, where l is the length, w is the width, and h is the height of the prism.
- The surface area of the triangular prism can be found using the formula base perimeter times height plus base area, where the base perimeter is the sum of the lengths of the three sides of the base.

Once you find the surface area of each component, you can add them together to get the total surface area of the composite figure.
