African Americans were often not allowed to enter or use the same facilities as white individuals, leading to separate and unequal treatment.

2. Literacy tests and poll taxes: Another discriminatory law under Jim Crow was the implementation of literacy tests and poll taxes to restrict African Americans from voting. These tests were often designed to be intentionally difficult and biased, making it nearly impossible for African Americans to pass and exercise their right to vote. Poll taxes were also used as a way to disenfranchise African Americans, as many could not afford to pay the fee in order to vote.
