UNIT 3
Writing a Research Paper
LESSON 6
Drafting the Body and Conclusion

Now that you have completed your introduction and gathered all of your research, it is time to draft the body of your research paper. The body of your paper should contain all of the main points that support your thesis statement.

Start by organizing your research notes into different categories or themes. Each category can become a separate paragraph in your body. Make sure to include evidence from your research to back up each point you make. This can include quotes, statistics, or examples.

When writing each paragraph, make sure to begin with a topic sentence that introduces the main point you will be discussing. Follow this with supporting evidence and analysis. Make sure to connect each paragraph smoothly to the next to create a cohesive argument.

Once you have completed the body of your paper, it is time to draft the conclusion. The conclusion should summarize the main points of your paper and restate your thesis statement. It should also reflect on the significance of your research and suggest possible avenues for further study.

Avoid introducing any new information in the conclusion. Instead, focus on wrapping up your argument and leaving the reader with a sense of closure. Consider ending your paper with a strong final sentence that leaves a lasting impression on your reader.

Remember to review and revise your draft before submitting your final paper. Make sure that each paragraph flows logically from one to the next and that your conclusion effectively wraps up your argument. Good luck with your research paper!
