Three-Dimensional Printing

How it works

3D Printed Enamelled Pottery
You are probably aware of printers that print more than paper. Such printers are three-dimensional printers. In short, the process is called 3D printing. 3D printing is also known as additive printing technology. It creates complex objects of endless variety. Such a printer prints an object as thousands of thin layers of material. Each layer is accurately placed and added one after another. These layers adhere to each other. Then, the layers that are stuck together solidify.

The advantages
3D printing is not only very accurate but also a lot faster than many manufacturing processes. It is cheaper and faster to 3D print many complicated objects than to try to produce them in factories. One can print objects as needed without worrying about mass-producing to save money and pay for storage. Other ways to mass-produce are casting and welding. However, one can’t be as creative in designing shapes in casting and welding as in 3D printing. In addition, 3D printing makes printing a prototype for testing much easier. A prototype is the first model of something from which other forms are made or developed.
