The force of gravity is what makes a ball roll down a hill. Gravity pulls objects towards the center of the Earth, so when a ball is on a hill, gravity is constantly pulling it downward. Friction also plays a role in slowing down the ball's movement, but ultimately it is gravity that causes it to roll downhill.
