Weddings are a huge affair – with most lasting several days. In many areas of Pakistan, gender segregation still occurs and couples don’t kiss or hug in public. Similar to India, food in Pakistan is aromatic and spicy. Rice and flatbread are eaten with most meals. Lassi and black tea with milk and sugar are the most common drinks. Muslims do not eat pork, thus pork will not be served in most places. Pakistan was once part of India and ruled by Britain until independence and partition in 1947.
