Portfolio Directions

A map of Canada shows provinces and territories.

This map shows the provinces and territories of Canada.
In this portfolio, you will research four provinces and territories in Canada. You will choose the best one based on a set of criteria. Use your textbook and internet research to find information about each province or territory. You will organize your research on a chart. This will help you make a decision about the best place to live. You will then present your choice as a multimedia presentation.
Specific Directions

Step 1 – Organize Facts

Use the Five-Column Graphic Organizer to organize your facts. Put your name at the top of the chart. Fill in each province or territory and the following columns:

economic resources
geographic features including natural resources
other relevant or fun facts

Set up your chart similar to the table below.

You will need to use your textbook and the internet to gather information. For the “Economic Resources and Opportunities” column, consider leading industries in the province or territory, as well as job opportunities. For the “Other Fun or Relevant Facts” column, include anything that may help you in making a decision on where to move.

Step 2 – Evaluate and Choose

After completing your chart, evaluate the information you have gathered for each province or territory. Consider factors such as job opportunities, quality of life, natural resources, and overall appeal. Choose the province or territory that you believe is the best place to live based on the criteria you have outlined.

Step 3 – Create a Multimedia Presentation

Using a multimedia tool of your choice (such as PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Prezi), create a presentation that showcases your research and explains why you have chosen the best province or territory to live in. Include visuals, facts, and any other relevant information that supports your decision. Be prepared to present your findings to the class.

Presenting your research in a multimedia format will help you practice your presentation skills and effectively communicate your findings to others. Make sure your presentation is clear, well-organized, and engaging for your audience.

By following these steps, you will be able to research, evaluate, and present your findings on the best province or territory to live in Canada. Good luck with your research and presentation!
