Lesson 3.02: Animal Categorization

- Artificial selection is the intentional breeding of animals by humans to produce desired traits, while natural selection is the process by which organisms with favorable traits are more likely to survive and reproduce.
- Ungulates are mammals with hooves. Examples include cows, deer, horses, and pigs.
- Artiodactyls are a group of ungulates with an even number of toes on each foot. Examples include cows, sheep, goats, and deer.
- Perissodactyls are a group of ungulates with an odd number of toes on each foot. Examples include horses, rhinoceroses, and tapirs.

Lesson 3.03: Animal Products
- Meat production levels have increased over the past decades due to increased demand for meat products.
- Livestock production accounts for around 40% of the global agricultural gross domestic product.
- Livestock is responsible for around 14.5% of the greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.
- By-products of animal processing include hides, bones, feathers, and blood.
- Preservation techniques for animal products include freezing, canning, drying, smoking, and salting.

Lesson 3.04: Animal Welfare
- The skeletal system provides structure and support for the body. Its parts include bones, cartilage, and ligaments.
- The nervous system controls and coordinates the body's functions. Its parts include the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
- The circulatory system transports oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. Its parts include the heart, blood vessels, and blood.
- The digestive system processes and absorbs nutrients from food. Its parts include the stomach, intestines, and liver.
- The excretory system removes waste and excess materials from the body. Its parts include the kidneys, bladder, and urethra.
