In a good pyramid there is typically less biomass at the top there are very few individual teritiary consumers whereas there are numerous individual producers in three to five sentences e
xplaining the structure of the pyramid and why this is the case. This is because energy is lost as it moves up the food chain, with only about 10% of energy being transferred from one trophic level to the next. This means that there is less overall biomass at higher trophic levels, as there is less available energy to support larger populations. Additionally, producers are able to capture energy from the sun through photosynthesis, allowing them to support larger numbers of individuals compared to consumers who must rely on consuming other organisms for energy. The pyramid shape represents this energy transfer and illustrates how the ecosystem is structured in terms of energy flow.
