However, federalism can also have its drawbacks. It can lead to duplication of efforts and confusion over responsibilities between the central and regional governments. It can also create tensions and conflicts between different regions or states, particularly if there are significant disparities in wealth or resources.
In Nigeria, federalism was adopted as a way to accommodate the country's diverse ethnic and cultural groups. The system of government was seen as a way to promote unity and accommodate the interests of various regions within the country.
Despite its intentions, federalism in Nigeria has been plagued by a number of problems.
