“Little Rock Nine”

The "Little Rock Nine" refers to nine African American students who were enrolled in Little Rock Central High School in 1957 during the desegregation of schools in the United States. Despite facing discrimination, threats, and violence, the students courageously attended the previously all-white school, facing intense hostility from white students and community members. Their bravery and persistence helped to bring attention to the injustices of segregation and played a significant role in the civil rights movement.
