Kristallnacht, also known as the Night of Broken Glass, was a violent anti-Jewish pogrom carried out by Nazi forces in Germany on November 9-10, 1938. During this time, Jewish businesses, synagogues, homes, and schools were destroyed, looted, and set on fire. Thousands of Jews were arrested and many were beaten and killed. The event marked a significant escalation in the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany and is considered a turning point leading up to the Holocaust.
