Mary Maloney, a devoted housewife, kills her husband Patrick with a frozen leg of lamb after he announces he is leaving her. She then calmly prepares dinner for the police officers who come to investigate the murder, serving them the murder weapon itself. The officers unknowingly eat the evidence and discuss the murder case, completely unaware of the truth. Mary gets away with the murder, appearing distraught and innocent when they question her. The story ends with Mary giggling to herself as she considers the irony of the situation.
