Initially, when the UN forces went to support South Korea during the Korean War in 1950, they faced significant setbacks as the North Korean forces had pushed them back to the Pusan Perimeter. The UN forces, led by General Douglas MacArthur, were able to regroup and launch a successful counterattack with the famous Inchon Landing, which ultimately turned the tide of the war in favor of South Korea and the allied forces. This success allowed the UN forces to push back the North Korean Army and advance further into North Korea.
