Design and create a functional object (something that has a use other than just as a piece of art) that is also artistic. For example, you might design and create a water bowl, bird house, piece of clothing, or other functional item. You’ll want to be mindful of the object’s design, as you’ll need to demonstrate its functional use. At the same time, your object should also demonstrate artistic style. When you have finished with your art piece, take two digital photographs. One photograph should show the object and its artistic style. The second photograph should show the object in use to demonstrate its functional purpose. For example, if you designed and created a birdhouse, you would take one photograph of the birdhouse, showing its artistic design. For the second photograph, you might show the birdhouse hung in a tree, ready to be used by a nesting bird. Insert the photographs of your artwork into a word processing file and answer the questions below in the same file. The file with the photographs of your artwork and the questions should be submitted to the Dropbox for this assignment.

I have created a woven basket that can be used as a storage container. The functional purpose of this piece is to hold various items such as fruits, vegetables, or household items.

I designed the piece by starting with a simple base and then weaving the sides using a combination of different colors and textures of yarn. I wanted the basket to be visually appealing while also being strong and durable.

One of the main decisions I had to make about the design was what materials to use. I ultimately decided on yarn because of its flexibility and ability to create intricate patterns. I also had to consider the size and shape of the basket to ensure it would be practical for everyday use.

The main challenge in making this piece both functional and artistic was finding the right balance between aesthetics and usability. I had to make sure that the basket was sturdy enough to hold items while also being visually interesting.

I made this functional piece into a piece of art by incorporating different weaving techniques and colors to create a unique design. I also added decorative elements such as tassels and beads to enhance the artistic appeal of the basket.

I used a crochet hook, yarn, beads, and scissors to create this woven basket. The inspiration for the artistic design came from traditional basket weaving techniques and modern fiber art trends. I wanted to create a piece that combined the beauty of traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary aesthetic.
