The Dutch traded guns, ammunition, and other goods to the Iroquois in exchange for their alliance and support in their conflicts with the Hurons and other neighboring tribes. This shift in the balance of power allowed the Iroquois to gain a military advantage over the Hurons and other indigenous groups in the region.
