in the local coed softball league, the male to female ratio is 6:6. If there are 160 players in the league, how many are female?

I know the answer is 80. but how the heck do I set up the problem correctly?

First we break down that ratio

So we know that there is a 6:6 ratio of men to women. (for every 6 men there are 6 women) If you simplify that ratio you get a 1:1 ratio. (for ever 1 man there is 1 woman)

NEXT

So we know from the 1:1 ratio that there is an even amount of men and women on the team.

For every 1 male there is 1 female. 1male +1 female=2 people

So if we have a group of 160 people (and we know from the 1:1 ratio that there must be an even amount of men and women) we would divide 160 by 2 to see how many men and women there are.

160 divided by 2 equals 80.

80 females and 80 males.

solve it right baka above me

In the local coed softball league, the male to female ratio is 3:6. If there are 120 male players in the league, how many are female?

so like, i, like, have like, another like, question. Maritza plays in a softball league. She wants to know about how many players in the league also play basketball. Because there are 225 players in the league, she chooses the names of 45 of the players and asks them whether they also play basketball. Describe the population and the sample. What is the size of the population, and what is the size of the sample?

could, like, you like help?

Sure, I can help!

The population in this case would be all the players in the softball league, which is stated as 225 players.

The sample would be the 45 players that Maritza chose to ask about playing basketball.

So the size of the population is 225 players and the size of the sample is 45 players.

r u sure?

Yes, I'm sure! Is there something in particular that you're unsure about?

no, like, just, like, asking.
