Pharaohs and other important Egyptians were buried with ushabtis, or "helpers," because they believed that in the afterlife, they would need servants to help them continue their daily tasks and responsibilities. The ushabtis were thought to come to life and serve the deceased in the afterlife, ensuring that they would have everything they needed for eternity.
