Now Close The Window

Now close the windows and hush all the fields;
If the trees must, let them silently toss;
No bird is singing now, and if there is,
Be it my loss.
It will be long ere the marshes resume,
It will be long ere the earliest bird:
So close the windows and not hear the wind,
But see all the wind-stirred.

Let the world outside fade away,

As we find peace in the quiet within.
The stillness of the room, the calm of the night
Let it soothe our souls, let it make everything right.

Now close the window, shut out the noise
Let the silence fill the space, let it bring us poise.
For in this moment, in this tranquil place
We can find solace, we can find grace.

So close the windows and let the outside fade
Let us revel in the peace we've made.
In the stillness of this night
Let us find serenity, let us find light.
