The main reason for the Texas Revolution was the desire of the Texian settlers to break away from Mexican rule and establish an independent Republic of Texas. The roots of the revolution can be traced back to Mexico's independence from Spain in 1821 and the subsequent political instability in the region. The Texian settlers, who were primarily Anglo-American immigrants, felt marginalized and mistreated by the Mexican government, which they believed was not respecting their rights and freedoms. Tensions escalated when Mexican President Antonio López de Santa Anna centralized power and abolished the Mexican Constitution of 1824, which had granted Texas some degree of autonomy. This led to clashes between Texian settlers and Mexican authorities, eventually culminating in the Texas Revolution and the declaration of independence in 1836.
