Read “Tipping Point.” In 3–4 sentences, identify a tipping point in your life and explain how it was similar to or different from the one Josh describes in the poem. Use specific details from your life and text evidence from the novel to support your answer.

NOTE: A full paragraph response is required. A full paragraph is a minimum of 5 to 7 sentences with correct conventions (capitalization, spelling, punctuation) and grammar.

In “Second Quarter,” Josh experiences a pivotal moment during a basketball game where he must decide whether to keep playing or walk away due to his frustrations with the sport. One tipping point in my life was when I had to choose between pursuing my dream of becoming a teacher or following in my family's footsteps and pursuing business. This moment was similar to Josh's because I had to make a decision that would greatly impact my future. Just like Josh, I struggled with feeling pressure from societal expectations and personal desires. The text evidence from the novel and my personal experience show that tipping points often require us to confront our fears and make difficult choices that define our paths in life.
