14. How are systemic and pulmonary circulation different?

Systemic circulation involves the circulation of blood throughout the entire body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues and removing waste products. Pulmonary circulation, on the other hand, specifically involves the flow of blood between the heart and the lungs for the purpose of gas exchange (oxygenation of blood and removal of carbon dioxide). In systemic circulation, blood is pumped from the heart to the rest of the body through arteries, capillaries, and veins, while in pulmonary circulation, blood is pumped from the heart to the lungs through the pulmonary artery and then back to the heart through the pulmonary vein.
