The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 resulted in significant devastation and loss of life. Over 2,400 Americans were killed, with more than 1,100 wounded. The attack also destroyed or damaged eight battleships, three cruisers, and four destroyers, along with numerous aircraft. The USS Arizona was hit particularly hard, with over 1,100 of its crew perishing in the attack. The attack on Pearl Harbor led the United States to declare war on Japan and enter World War II.
