- The purchase of "War Bonds" was a major response by American citizens to help fund the war effort. These bonds were like loans that individuals could buy to provide the government with much-needed financial resources. - Women played a significant role in the war effort by enlisting in organizations like the Women's Army Corps (WACs) and the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs). They took on various military jobs, ranging from driving trucks and repairing planes to working as nurses, engineers, chemists, and even spies. Their contributions were crucial in freeing up men for combat roles.
- In order to ensure that enough food could be sent overseas to support the troops, Americans began to raise their own food. Victory Gardens, as they were called, were small vegetable gardens planted by citizens in their own yards or public spaces.
