The area in the United States where cool dry air from the north meets warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and results in an unstable atmosphere is known as Tornado Alley. Tornado Alley is a region primarily located in the central and southern United States, stretching from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, to parts of Colorado, Missouri, and South Dakota. This convergence of air masses creates ideal conditions for the formation of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.
