One example of seismic waves is the primary or P-waves. These waves are a type of body waves that travel through the interior of the Earth. P-waves are compressional waves, meaning that they cause particles of the medium (Earth's crust) to move in the same direction as the wave propagation. They travel at the highest velocity among seismic waves and can travel through solids, liquids, and gases.
