What was Lihué Calel National Park before it became a park, and who was in charge of it?

Lihué Calel National Park, located in La Pampa province of Argentina, was initially a land designated for military use. It was established as a military base called "Villa Reynolds" in the year 1924. The military base was dedicated to carrying out training exercises with troops and military aircraft.

In 1969, the Argentine Air Force relinquished control of the area, and it was subsequently taken over by the National Parks Administration (APN) of Argentina. The APN transformed the former military base into Lihué Calel National Park in 1977, with the aim of conserving the unique biodiversity found in the region. Since then, the APN has been responsible for the management and administration of the national park.
