In "The Lady, or the Tiger?" by Frank Stockton, the King faces a conflict when the Princess chooses her lover to marry. The conflict for the King is person vs. person because he feels betrayed by the Princess. He reacts to the conflict with anger and jealousy, as shown when he devises the trial by choosing the door fate. However, the story does not explicitly reveal how the King resolves the conflict. It is possible that he never fully resolves it as he is left with the lingering question of which door the Princess picked.
