More than any other area of the world, eastern and southern Africa has been the most affected by AIDS. This region includes countries such as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. These countries have high prevalence rates and bear a significant burden of HIV/AIDS. Western and northern Africa, on the other hand, have relatively lower prevalence rates compared to eastern and southern Africa. While HIV/AIDS is a significant public health issue in these regions as well, the number of people living with HIV/AIDS is lower in comparison.
