How many votes are required to impeach a president

In the United States, the process of impeaching a president involves both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Impeachment proceedings begin in the House, and a simple majority vote (at least 218 out of 435 votes) is required to approve one or more articles of impeachment against the president. However, impeachment alone does not remove the president from office.

After being impeached by the House, the case moves to the Senate for a trial. In the Senate, a two-thirds majority vote (at least 67 out of 100 votes) is required to convict and remove the president from office.
