Changes in volume cause work

Changes in volume refer to the expansion or contraction of a system, which can be linked to thermodynamics and the concept of work. For example, in a piston-cylinder system, if the volume of the gas inside the cylinder increases, the gas molecules exert a force on the piston, causing it to move.
