One of my favorite ways that electronic music is used in the world today is through touring Broadway shows! Instead of having to bring along an entire orchestra, touring show companies can hire 3-4 musicians who play synthesizers in the orchestra pit that sound like many different instruments. Even though I personally like the sound of individual instruments and a full orchestra the best, I can see where this would be financially beneficial to the touring show.
