Equator

The equator is an imaginary line that circles the Earth halfway between the North Pole and the South Pole. It is the line of latitude that has a latitude value of zero degrees. The equator divides the Earth into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. It is approximately 40,075 kilometers (24,901 miles) long and passes through 13 countries, including Ecuador, Brazil, Kenya, and Indonesia. The equator experiences the most direct sunlight throughout the year, resulting in a generally warm climate. It also marks the starting point for measuring latitude and longitude.
