Judge John Howard Ferguson was the presiding judge in the case. Additionally, the people who were affected by this event were African Americans living in the United States, as the ruling in this case had significant implications for the Jim Crow segregation laws that were prevalent at the time. It further solidified the concept of "separate but equal" and upheld racially discriminatory practices, empowering and perpetuating systemic racism and inequality.
