2. Take a close look at the formatting of the sample MLA paper on pages 740-747 of the text. Take particular note of the spacing of the header or running head (beginning 1/2 inch from the top edge of the page in the right margin), the heading or identification (beginning 1 inch from the top edge of the page or 2 spaces from the header), the title (beginning 2 spaces from the heading, centered), and the first line of the body (beginning 2 spaces from the title).

5. After your identification, double space again and type a title for your own paper. Center the title on the page.

6. Double space again and begin typing the body of your paper. Make sure to indent the first line of each paragraph by 1/2 inch or five spaces. Double space between each paragraph.

7. Continue typing the remainder of your paper, following the guidelines for font, margins, spacing, and capitalization as outlined in The Bedford Handbook.

8. After your final paragraph, double space and include a Works Cited page if necessary. Follow the formatting guidelines for the Works Cited page as outlined in The Bedford Handbook.

9. Proofread your entire paper for any errors in formatting, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Make sure all citations are properly formatted and all sources are accurately listed on the Works Cited page.
