Hormones

Anoticliuretic hormone

The hormone you are referring to is actually called Antidiuretic hormone (ADH), not "Anoticliuretic hormone." ADH is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. Its main function is to regulate water balance in the body by controlling the amount of water reabsorbed by the kidneys. ADH acts on the kidneys to promote water reabsorption, leading to decreased urine volume and increased concentration of urine. This helps maintain proper blood volume and osmolarity. ADH is also involved in regulating blood pressure and plays a role in vasoconstriction. Dysregulation of ADH can lead to conditions like diabetes insipidus (insufficient ADH production) or syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (excessive ADH production).
