Marcos' Secret Project
Marcos was a very plain Italian boy, no different from any other kid on the streets of his neighborhood. That's the way it looked, anyway.
Misti, however, knew he was different. They had grown up next door to each other and had become steadfast friends. Misti knew that Marcos was working on an exciting project in his basement.
Early Saturday morning, Misti ran to the tiny window that looked down into Marcos' basement. After brushing the weeds away, she got down on her hands and knees to peer inside.
"Darn it, Misti! I told you I wanted to surprise you," Marcos complained. Trying to hide her embarrassment at being caught, Misti confessed, "I'm too curious, Marcos. I just couldn't wait."
Marcos led Misti down the steps, explaining that he was ready to show her anyway. "I've created a time machine," he told her, watching her closely.
"Oh, come on," Misti said in wide-eyed amazement.
Misti asked, "Can I go forward to see the questions for the math test Monday? I'm really having a hard time in math."
"We can try," said Marcos.
Marcos positioned Misti in the forwarding chamber. After a brief humming sound, she found herself looking at her test paper in math. Misti couldn't help smiling as the paper faded before her very eyes.
Marcos anxiously waited for Misti's reaction. "It worked! It really worked!" Misti excitedly squealed. "I'm so proud for you, Marcos."
"This has to be top secret," Marcos told Misti. "How do you think you'll do on your test?"
"Great! I already know everything that is on it. I guess I just needed some confidence," Misti confessed.
