2. The social classes in Ancient Greece were ranked as follows:
- At the top were the aristocrats or nobles who owned large estates and held political power.
- Middle-class citizens known as the hoplites were farmers, artisans, and merchants who had some political rights.
- The lower class consisted of slaves who had no rights and were owned by other people.
In simpler terms, Ancient Greece had rich and powerful people on top, regular working citizens in the middle, and people who were owned by others at the bottom.
